Sexual abuse is the worst form of abuse particularly when it happens to a child. Unlike most catastrophic injuries, the harm caused by sexual abuse cannot be fixed with a surgery or a physical therapy session nor will the injury just go away.
The road to accountability in a sexual abuse case is painful because sexual abuse victims must relive the abuse in order to hold wrongdoers responsible. Despite the pain, it has been my experience that accountability is part of the healing process not just for the child but for the parents. Nonetheless, we tell parents in the very beginning that if the road to accountability becomes too painful or it it does more harm than good then we will shut it down. No lawsuit and no amount of money is more important than the health of a child particularly one who has been sexually abused. At MLG we handle cases that matter and in sexual abuse cases we handle them with a singular focus on what really matters: the child.
